Judson Avenue Renovation

Sometimes the best additions don’t actually make the house bigger, they just expand spaciousness by solving the puzzle of what is already there. Mike and Cullen had a small kitchen, an awkward dining room and lacked a primary bathroom and a bedroom closet wider than three feet. But they did have a screened porch, and that was the piece that unlocked everything.  By insulating the screened porch and swapping out screens for efficient sliding glass doors, we made it a four-season family room. Then we made the family room into a generous dining room, the renovated dining room into a light filled kitchen and the small kitchen into a generous rear entry. A small dormer that did not expand the home’s footprint made space for a walk-in closet and a primary bathroom.
